An Irish Setter has given birth to 16 puppies in a single litter at a kennel in Norfolk.

The owner of the dog, called Kelly, said the mother went through a 10-hour period of labour before giving birth to the pups.

Dee Farndell, who runs the breeding kennel at Terrington St Clement near King's Lynn, said the pups are worth about £700 each.

She expected 12 of the pups to be sold with four being kept within her family.

Mrs Farndell said: "For the first two weeks we did a 24-hour vigil. Neither of us went to bed.
